Hello friends this post is particularly about the book resources to be followed for optional anthropology. As there are lots of resources available for anthropology we don’t need to dwell into all of them. The main purpose is take one chapter in the syllabus and read that chapter in specific book which I will be providing its name and maximum 3 pages of crisp notes has to prepared.
Books to be followed:
Paper 1:
A) Physical anthropology (paper 1 - 1.4 to 1.8 and 9.1 to 12)
1. Physical anthropology by P.Nath (most recommended)
2. Outlines of physical anthropology B.M Das
3. Anthropology by Ember and Ember (most recommended)
4. Anthropology Telugu academy book
5. Brain tree material.
First read some basic books or start the paper 1 chapter 1.7-the biological basis of life: the cell, DNA structure and replication, protein synthesis, gene, mutation, chromosomes, and cell dicision. Read and Reread the chapter 1.7 if you are understood this chapter then it is easy to understand chapter 9.1, 9.4,12.
SECRET: Most important thing to do in physical anthropology is to practice diagrams as many times as possible. if aspirant wants to attempt 3 questions from physical anthropology in paper 1 then at least he/she needs to draw one diagram , flowchart in the answer sheet to get more marks than socio-cultural part. This part gives you more advantage than other people. We need to prepare crisp notes with subheadings and flowcharts and diagrams.
B) Socio-cultural anthropology (paper 1-1.1 to 1.3 and 2 to 8)
1. An introduction to social anthropology by D.N Majumdar
2. Brain tree material.
3. Anthropological theories by IGNOU material
4. Anthropology by Ember and Ember (most recommended)
5. Anthropology Telugu academy book
If we want to score more in anthropology the secret is attempt 3 questions from physical anthropology and 2 questions from socio -cultural anthropology.socio –cultural answer part needs examples from India and worldwide and case studies from both part.
Paper 2:
A) Indian society chapters from 1.1 to 5.3:
1. Brain tree material
2. Telugu academy books
3. Indian anthropology by Nadeem hasnain
Compared to paper 1 ,paper 2 gives us more marks as recent results show that we can score maximum up to 190-200 out of 250.for this we need to have proper answer structure like headings ,subheadings ,flowcharts, examples ,case study most important part which gives you additional marks and which separates you from rest of others.
B) Tribal India chapters from 6.1 to 9.3:
1. Tribal India by Nadeem hasnain
2. Brain tree material
3. Case studies from News papers and magazines.
4. Social welfare programmes for vulnerable sections from Telugu academy book.
5. Telugu academy book case studies.
Proper answer structure like headings, subheadings, flowcharts, examples, case study most important part.
